1. Who we are

Oilive is a taste-personalized olive oil discovery platform. We help you find olive oils that match your palate through a curated catalog, barcode scanning, and personal taste profiling.

2. Data we collect

  • Account data: email address and display name when you sign up.
  • Taste profile: your answers to the taste quiz (intensity preference, flavor preferences, budget, use cases, health priority). Stored securely and used only to generate recommendations.
  • Activity data: products you save, your tasting log entries, and collections you browse.
  • Usage analytics: anonymized events via PostHog (page views, feature interactions) to improve the product. No personally identifiable data is shared with PostHog by default.
  • Scan data: barcodes you scan are not stored permanently. If a product is not found, any submission you make is stored to help us expand the catalog.

3. How we use your data

  • To generate personalized olive oil recommendations matched to your taste profile.
  • To display your wishlist, pantry, and tasting log.
  • To improve Oilive's catalog and features based on aggregate, anonymized usage.
  • To send transactional emails (password reset, account confirmation). We do not send marketing emails without explicit consent.

4. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We use the following third-party services:

  • Supabase: database and authentication infrastructure (EU servers).
  • PostHog: product analytics (EU cloud, data anonymized).
  • Vercel: hosting and edge network.
  • Google: optional OAuth sign-in only.

When you click a "Buy" link, you are redirected to a third-party merchant. We track that click for analytics and affiliate attribution, but share no personal data with the merchant.

5. Data retention

Your account data is retained until you delete your account. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Danger Zone. Deletion is permanent and removes all your data within 30 days.

6. Your rights

Under GDPR (if you are in the EU), you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Contact us at privacy@oilive.app with any requests.

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication sessions only. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
